Resolution "33" Update.

I had the opportunity to speak, through email, with a representative of Congressman Gilmor’s office the day before yesterday.

For those who don’t remember, House Resolution 33 is a proposed Congressional Resolution to recognizing Freemasonry as a historic contributor to our society.

This resolution, I found, was the second such resolution submitted in as many years. The last being submitted by Congressmen Gilmore in the last session of Congress, the 109th which again made its way to the House Committee on Government Reform, just as it has this time. I also found out that for the draft to make its way though committee to the house floor,it required 50 co-sponsors. In the last session, it received only 21.

At the bottom of this post is a list of the first time Co-Sponsors.

Here is where WE come in. We can help this resolution make its way though the House Committee on Government Reform and garner more Co-Sponsors for this Resolution. All we have to do is write our own Congressperson and tell them that you want their support on this resolution.

To make this easy I have a link to use to send a message to your Congressman, in just a few clicks. What you need to say is:

“Dear Congressperson, as a constituent of your district, I would like to ask for your support and co-sponsorship of House Resolution 33 to honor the fraternal organization of Freemasonry.”

This Resolution is a strong and dignified gesture from a US Congressman to all of us, in what ever state we reside or the discipline we follow. The nature of the resolution is truly a definition of who Freemasons are and what they are about. I strongly urge you to take the time to follow the link and tell your Congressperson to support this resolution.

And for those interested, the Congressman is a Freemason, and an Illustrious 33rd.
