BibliOdyssey: Gnosis.

This is a great collection of images from a Gnosis site out of Poland.

I recommend when you have a chance to give it some time and absorb the images. So much of what went into Freemasonry today, the things we ponder and debate, evolved out of the reaches of Alchemy and the close of the renaissance.

The wisdom in these images may be rudimentary to scientific thought today, but in merging science and the divine, they are monumental steps.

Isn’t the essence of Freemasonry all about veiled wisdom taught by allegory and illustrated by symbols?

  1. Thanks for the shoutout.

That Polish Gnosis is a great site – there are images there either missing from or are better quality than at Adam McLean’s Levity or elsewhere. In fact there are a few I’ve never come across before at all.

Just by the by, you *might* like some among this lot (I tend to tag all the esoterica with alchemy, religion or emblemata). Probably not so much directly masonic but as you say, the imagery crosses borders (in fact, freemasonry is an area I should look into a bit more). Cheers. Paul.

  2. Great stuff!

I have an over-sized coffee table book with a few of these images in full-page and detailed close-ups.

    I want these on a t-shirt!
