Good Morning America – Freemasonry

This is a composite from several messages that I have recieved. If you know of someone who would be interested in this, let them know about it.

This message was sent from Ron Seale, from the Supreme Council of the Scottish Rite.

This Wednesday, April 19, 2006, ABC television’s “Good Morning
” will broadcast a segment live from the House of the Temple. With GMA host, Charlie Gibson, they are presenting a segment on Freemasonry. The program begins 7 a.m., EST. We are not sure what time the Freemasonry segment is scheduled.

Brent Morris has been instrumental in working with these people to
secure this event.

From another source.
Professor Margaret Jacob will be interviewed on Monday by ABC news on the topic of freemasonry as a secret society — separating fact from fiction. This will be part of a national television piece concerning secret societies in general it seems. It will air nationally on the popular show “Good Morning America” on Wednesday. At least that is the plan at the moment. I do not know if ABC staff will have lined up European scholars, and Masons, to interview.

You may have guessed that the program is inspired by the Da Vinci Code… book and movie.

We shall be seeing even more attempts by major American news media to discern fact from fiction regarding this book, and movie, no doubt. … and Dan Brown’s future work.

In addition to Professor Jacob appearing on Wednesday on “Good Morning America” to speak on Freemasonry and secret societies, it was announced today that on Tuesday morning the ABC nationally broadcast show will be focusing some part of their time on the Da Vinci Code.

If anyone has the capacity they may want to record these two mornings for their own purposes and additional days this week if the coverage is extended. If you can digitally record these segments, and forward to me, I would be very grateful.

  1. Wow, what a fantastic piece! The brothers who spoke represented the Fraternity exceptionally well!

I really liked how the one brother refused to allow the host to credit the decline in membership to anything other than a general decline in particpation in service organizations.

I am very proud of the brethren who spoke on the program. Thanks, and congratulations!!

  2. Another comment..

I just realized something about the media flurry that is to come. Yes, the media will use scary music, lurid images, and other garbage to lure viewers into watching their segment (as did GMA this morning).

However, in the end, they enjoy ‘debunking’ things much more than supporting anything that smacks of a conspiracy theory. So, in the end, they will all conclude (correctly I might add) that Freemasonry is a benevolant organization that has done many great things in the past and is a worthwhile organization to join today.

I expect a massive increase in petitions following that program.

    Brother John
