Does the Vatican have it right?

I’ve made this arguement before. Perhaps the vatican has it right in cpyrighting it’s intellectual material and controling who uses it. There is a certian level of control already, but is it an eventual course to copyrighting the bible?

Why all this bother? Because when you own a sign, symbol, mark, work, writing, phrase, solgan, anything you can imagine (within reason) you control who uses it and how it gets used. And when someone else uses it, then you can sue them (for often big bucks) to make them stop. The Scientologists are like that, so I’ve heard, and their liable suits aI’ve made this argument before. One of the largest problems with Freemasonry is the open copyright to it’s rites, symbols, and degrees. They have existed so long that no one owns them, which has it’s blessing, but it’s curse is that they are free for use for everyone. Even the Rosicrucian AMORC has their symbols registered.

The Scientologists are like that, so I’ve heard, and their liable suits are of such infamy that they have frequently been parodied by comedians. But see, again, their sign and symbols are copy-written, look here for the little ®.

Maybe Freemasonry needs to take a lesson from the Vatican, and copyright our intellectual property.

  1. I can’t remember clearly but wasn’t it Johnny Carson who had a big battle over something and really brought intellectual property copyrights out to the public? There was something anyway, but I figured alot of people/groups who put out any original ideas would be all over that.
